And just after a very happy day in my life, I must acknowledge the saddest day in my life. A year ago today my father chose to end his life. The sadness is so great and I have spent a year exploring my emotions like I have never done before. Certainly not just about my father, but for my father who wasn’t able to do that for himself. Look for those around you that are struggling and give them a kind word. You never know how much it could mean to them. I will make it my life’s work to help people and make a difference in their lives. And I hope to help normalize talking about mental illness and suicide so that it might help others. For my father.

  1. You were the most important person in his life! He adored his children and grandchildren! Wishing I could turn back time … I would scoop him up and bring him back! His pain was greater than any of us knew! His handsome and gentle ways will be missed! I think I miss his laughter most of all! I love my brother! He was my hero!
